Description

A fresh and vibrant Balsamic Strawberry Caprese salad combining juicy strawberries, creamy mozzarella, and fragrant basil, all drizzled with tangy balsamic glaze and rich extra virgin olive oil. Perfect as a light appetizer or side dish with a beautiful presentation and ready in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Salad Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves

Dressing & Seasoning

  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 tbsp honey for extra sweetness

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Start by hulling and slicing the strawberries into thin rounds. If you are using mozzarella balls, leave them whole or halve them if they are large for easier layering.
  2. Layer the Salad: On a serving platter, arrange the sliced strawberries and mozzarella balls alternately. Tuck whole basil leaves in between the layers for a beautiful presentation and release of aroma.
  3. Drizzle with Balsamic: Generously drizzle the balsamic glaze over the arranged strawberries and mozzarella. If a sweeter note is desired, add a drizzle of honey now to enhance the flavor balance.
  4. Add Olive Oil: Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil evenly on top to add richness and depth to the salad.
  5. Season: Sprinkle salt and freshly cracked black pepper over the salad to taste, enhancing the natural flavors.
  6. Serve & Enjoy: This dish can be served immediately or refrigerated for about 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld wonderfully. Enjoy as a fresh appetizer, a light lunch, or a delightful side dish.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the sweetest flavor.
  • Mozzarella balls can be substituted with sliced fresh mozzarella if desired.
  • If balsamic glaze is unavailable, reduce balsamic vinegar in a saucepan until syrupy.
  • Chilling the salad before serving enhances the flavor combination.
  • Honey is optional and can be omitted for a less sweet version.
