Description

This Baked Crunchy Hot Honey Chicken is the perfect combination of crispy, crunchy, and sweet with a spicy kick! The chicken is coated in a crunchy breadcrumb mixture and baked to golden perfection, then drizzled with a hot honey sauce for that irresistible sweet and spicy flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing)

For the Hot Honey Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot or sriracha)

  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (optional, for tanginess)

  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease with olive oil.

  • Prepare the Coatings: In a shallow bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. In another shallow bowl, place the beaten eggs, and in a third shallow bowl, add the flour.

  • Coat the Chicken: Dredge each chicken breast first in the flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat in the panko breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to ensure the breadcrumbs stick well.

  • Bake the Chicken: Place the breaded chicken breasts on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle a small amount of olive oil over the chicken to help it crisp up in the oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C) and the coating is golden and crispy.

  • Make the Hot Honey Sauce: While the chicken is baking, combine the honey, hot sauce, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using) in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is warm and slightly thickened (about 3-4 minutes).

  • Drizzle and Serve: Once the chicken is done baking, remove it from the oven. Drizzle the hot honey sauce generously over the crispy chicken. Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

You can use chicken thighs if you prefer dark meat.

Adjust the amount of hot sauce in the hot honey sauce to your taste preference – more for extra spice!

Serve with a side of roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a crisp salad to balance out the flavors.
