Description
These Baked Apple Fritters are soft, fluffy, and packed with warm cinnamon and juicy apple chunks. Instead of deep-frying, they’re baked until golden and finished with a sweet vanilla glaze. All the goodness of a bakery favorite — without the mess or oil!
Ingredients
For the fritters:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
2 large eggs
1/3 cup milk
2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 1 large apple – Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)
For the glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat oven: to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Add wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Pour into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined (don’t overmix).
Fold in apples: Gently fold in the diced apples.
Scoop and bake: Drop batter by large spoonfuls (about 1/4 cup each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing a few inches apart. Flatten slightly. Bake for 14–16 minutes, or until puffed and lightly golden.
Make the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Glaze the fritters: Let fritters cool slightly, then drizzle or dip the tops in glaze. Serve warm or at room temp.
Notes
-
For extra apple flavor, sauté the apples in a bit of butter and cinnamon before adding to the batter.
-
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temp for up to 2 days — reheat briefly in the microwave for that fresh-from-the-oven feel.
-
Try adding a handful of chopped pecans or walnuts for crunch!
