Description

Authentic Greek Chicken Souvlaki features juicy, marinated chicken skewers grilled to perfection and bursting with traditional Mediterranean flavors. This beloved Greek street food is perfect for serving in pita with tzatziki or over rice with fresh veggies.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  2. Add chicken pieces to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably 4 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. If using wooden skewers, soak in water for 30 minutes beforehand.
  4. Thread marinated chicken onto skewers, leaving a bit of space between pieces.
  5. Grill skewers for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until chicken is golden brown and fully cooked.
  6. Serve hot with pita bread, tzatziki sauce, tomatoes, onions, and a side of lemon wedges.
