Description

An easy, customizable fruit crisp recipe featuring sweet, juicy fruit topped with a buttery oat crumble, perfect for any season and any fruit you have on hand.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen fruit (such as apples, berries, peaches, or a mix)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust based on fruit sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the fruit with the granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Spread the fruit evenly in the prepared dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle the oat crumble evenly over the fruit.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • Mix and match fruits based on what’s in season — apple and blackberry, peach and blueberry, or rhubarb and strawberry are great combos.
  • If using frozen fruit, there’s no need to thaw; just add a little extra cornstarch (1-2 teaspoons).
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
