Description

This Air Fryer Egg and Cheese Toast is a quick and delicious breakfast option featuring perfectly cooked eggs nestled in buttered bread slices, topped with melted cheddar cheese. Ready in just 13 minutes, it’s a satisfying and savory start to your day with a crispy texture and creamy yolk, easily customizable with your favorite cheeses and herbs.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese of choice)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and allow it to preheat while you prepare the toast slices.
  2. Prepare the Bread: Lightly butter one side of each bread slice. Place them butter-side down in the air fryer basket. Using a spoon, gently press the center of each slice to create a shallow well to hold the egg.
  3. Add the Eggs: Carefully crack one egg into the center well of each bread slice, ensuring the yolk stays intact and centered.
  4. Add Cheese and Seasoning: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese around the edges of the egg on each piece of bread, avoiding covering the yolk. Season with salt and black pepper to your taste.
  5. Cook in the Air Fryer: Air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, checking for the egg whites to be set and yolk cooked to your preferred doneness. Adjust time for runnier or firmer yolks as desired.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Carefully remove the toast with a spatula to avoid breaking. Garnish with chopped chives or parsley if you like and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use thicker bread slices to better hold the egg and avoid sogginess.
  • For a runnier yolk, reduce the cooking time slightly; for a firmer yolk, add 1–2 extra minutes.
  • Experiment with different cheeses such as mozzarella, Swiss, or pepper jack for variety.
