Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Wings
- 2 lbs thawed or fresh chicken wings
- 1 and 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
Buffalo Sauce
- 1/3 cup buffalo sauce of choice
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons honey
Instructions
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it is ready to crisp the wings perfectly.
- Dry the Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry thoroughly with paper towels to remove excess moisture which helps achieve a crispier texture during cooking.
- Season Wings: In a large bowl, toss the wings with olive oil, salt, pepper, and baking powder until they are evenly coated; the baking powder helps to crisp the skin.
- Arrange Wings: Place the wings in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd for even air circulation and cooking.
- Air Fry Wings: Cook the wings at 400°F for 20-25 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to flip the wings and promote uniform crisping.
- Prepare Buffalo Sauce: While the wings cook, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat; once melted, stir in buffalo sauce and honey, warming for 2-3 minutes until combined.
- Combine Wings and Sauce: When the wings are golden and crispy, remove them from the air fryer, transfer to a bowl, pour the warm buffalo sauce over, and toss to coat evenly.
- Serve: Serve the wings hot with extra buffalo sauce on the side if desired for dipping.
Notes
- Make sure the wings are dry before seasoning to get the best crispiness.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary.
- Adjust the heat of the buffalo sauce by choosing your preferred buffalo sauce brand.
- Use baking powder (not baking soda) to get crispy skin on the wings.
- Serve with celery sticks and blue cheese or ranch dressing for classic buffalo wing pairing.
